The history of singing bowls is long and can be traced back to 600 BC. It is said that singing bowls first appeared in ancient India more than 2,400 years ago, and were later brought from India to Tibet by the Buddhist Guru Padmasambhava, and gradually spread to the Himalayas. In Nepal, the Sakya clan still makes singing bowls with healing effects, and chants mantras when making them. This traditional production method has continued since the time of the Buddha.

Early singing bowls were mostly used in daily life. Such as as food containers for food and storage of supplies, and were also used by monks as alms bowls. As time went by, people discovered that singing bowls could make wonderful sounds when struck. Which could quickly put people into a deep state of meditation.
